Our Cruise has begun!

Writing From: Our cabin

Hello! This morning we were woken by the foghorns making five blasts on two occasions. We later found out we passed close by some fishing boats. We had breakfast in our room. I had an assortment of pastries and Amber had bacon, hash browns, and a fruit plate. I had two glasses of juice. We headed to the pool area but it was blowing a gale. We had lunch in the Windjammer and then Amber passed to the next stage in her competition by giving a “political” speech. Then we abandoned our loungers on account of the wind and Amber taught me backgammon. I won. After that we headed to the art auction at 1:30pm and we claimed our honeymooner’s artwork. We got called the “happy couple” a lot! We didn’t’ win the $5,000 raffle, sadly. After a rest we went to the first formal dinner and met they mystery diners – aka the two missing people at our table. They are called Adam and Deirdra. Amber’s tattoo washed off today. ☹

Tonight Amber stayed in and read and I went to the 80’s music show “Pure Energy,” then to the battle of the sexes in the Lotus Lounge, and then I took two Choc Chip cookies up to eat with my wife. We watched the sea for a while and then went to bed.

Short but Sweet

Simon

Starting to feel sick so this will be short. Hopped on the bus after I had subway for…breakfast…and got to the port at 11:10ish. It took about an hour to get aboard and then we had a light lunch at the Windjammer. Had French bread, a banana, and some fries. At 1pm our stateroom was ready. Amber’s large bag and my suit bag arrived first but my large bag didn’t before 6pm.

Dinner was at the Sound of Music dinner hall at 6pm. We met Todd and Tracy to our right and Ashley and Brett to our left. The latter folks were on their Honeymoon too. Had stuffed chicken and Amber had cod. Yum. Till next entry viewers, night.

Out to Sea!

Out to Sea

We left Port Canaveral at 4ish after standing in line FOREVER! Only we had to turn all the way around and go back after an ever so calm voice announced “Alpha Alpha Alpha Basketball court” and the captain came on and said someone was hurt. Now we are on our way again and going super fast to make up time. Simon and I think it had to be a head injury to get us to turn all the way around like that, but it turned out the guy just hurt his knee.

The fastness of the boat is making it rock a lot. It’s making me feel drunk but not queasy. Had a good dinner of Alaskan Cod and “Chocolate Fondue” which was really some kind of mousse.

Then we went around the ship and found cool stuff like the Dragon’s Lair dance club.

We watched the parade and I got picked with 9 other people to be the potential future cruise director. We’ll see what happens tomorrow. 5 people said they would vote for me. Not counting Simon so that’s 6 votes! Maybe I have a chance. I certainly hope so.

The drinks here are good.

Oh! I got a fake tattoo of a frog. His name is Mr. Hoppy! My favorite bar is the Wig and Gavel – the British pub. I like to sit out in front and watch people.

So far, our honeymoon is going awesome. Will write more later!

Writing From: Same place as Simon
Room 509

We leave for the cruise tomorrow. We agreed that one of us would write in this every night so we should have pretty complete entries!

We went to Ron John’s Surf Shop and it was pretty cool. When we went to go to the bar there was a guy with a voice box. It creeped me out. He had an actual HOLE in his throat!

At the beach we walked along the water. The waves rushed in so fast that they caught me by surprise and got me wet!

The kids in the room next door are really annoying but it’s ok. I brought the duct tape and I WILL duct tape their mouths shut!

We may take a walk to Walgreens soon. It’s open 24 hours I hear. Dunno what the Florida nightlife is like but I am sure we will soon see!

Oops we decided to go in the morning. Time for bed now! I love Simon, I love it here and I can’t wait till tomorrow!

The view from our hotel!!!

Local time: 9:14 PM

Hello loyal readers! This has turned from a wedding blog to a honeymoon blog overnight! YAy! So here we are in beautiful Cocoa beach Florida waiting for our cruise adventure to begin. We wait in style though, in our two room Comfort Inn Suite sipping our complimentary pina coladas. Yes, this is the life. The weather is beautiful, if not a little too humid

Walked down to the beach and it was awesome! There was practically no one there and the waves crashing on the shore were beautiful! We plan to get up early tomorrow to watch the sunrise since we have this rare chance of being on the East coast! I got run over by a monster wave though and that wasn’t very pleasant. We went home shortly after that and here we are! Oh, but one highlight

And we even had the chance to play life sized shuffle board!

This is a full out x games kind of sport my friends! Nothing like those piddly diddly little games they have in bars back home. I don’t understand how it got associated with old people! We were crazy out there with our sticks and puck thingies! It was awesome. It made me wish that Scott and a fourth person were there so we could really get our shuffle board action on!

The people who are next door just arrived and they seem loud. Maybe I will show them my “O” face. “yeah you should” says Simon who is reading over my shoulder.

I’ll leave you with that mental image.

Writing From: Comfort Inn and Suites
Cocoa Beach, Florida

First Entry (by Simon)! Today we got up at 7am, did some last-minute packing, and headed to the airport. After a fabulous Quiznos early lunch, we boarded the plane bound for Orlando. We arrived at 5pm local time and took a taxi to Cocoa Beach, on the coast (cost $101.75, gave a large tip, paying $120). After checking in, we ate at Taco Bell/ Long John Silver’s, ha ha! We then went back to the hotel for our two free Pina Coladas. We played some life-size shuffleboard next and the score was 16:0 (Simon won).

I’ma gonna miss my kitties!

I know I should be thinking about things to get done for the wedding but I can’t help but think about my little kitties! I’m going to miss them so much when they are gone!

Look, they are like my babies! They follow me all around the house, they are there when I need a hug, they snuggle next to me when I’m cold at night, and lick my face when I’m having a nightmare and I’m sending them to the kennel! Of course the kennel is more like a kitty spa than anything else, but I’m going to miss them so very much! What will I do without them on my cruise! They are going to be so pissed off with me when I get them back!! Omg I miss them already! When I get home I’m going to give them extra hugs and kisses. Yes, I’m crazy but you should already know this about me.

In other news, my wedding dress is finished being edited and back from the seamstress! OOOO I can’t wait to try it on! Sue picked it up for me because no other times would work out so I hope everything fits ok. I’m sure it’ll be fine though, I’ve tried it on nearly a million times.

Oh by the way things keep going wrong but I’m not going to let THE MAN get me down. Here’s the rundown. There was a HUGE PROBLEM with the flower people that I will tell you all about if you ask but I will not detail here. The reception venue keeps trying to nickel and dime us! Watch out for that – future brides! Firstly they are charging us $15 a bottle for what I KNOW to be $5 a bottle wine AND WE HAD TO TALK THEM DOWN TO $15!! and then yesterday they tried to charge us $2.50 a person for appetizers which were included in the menu at first! It’s ok though because they gave in and told us we could have those included in the original price we agreed upon. BUT THEN THE SPA calls! The place which we booked for 8 people the day of my wedding so that we could get our hair done! APPARENTLY ONE OF THE GIRLS QUIT so something that was already going to take nearly 4 hours to accomplish is now going to take 8 hours! Someone is going to be getting their hair done at 7am! How can you only have a total of two hairstylists??? How do they even stay open? Oh wait, they charge HUGE ridiculous prices for everything THAT’S HOW! Not to say that they aren’t nice people, I mean they are giving us a discount on the hair stuff now so that helps. Every little bit helps.

Oh and in the picture along with my baby is my lovely flower girl Katie. HI KATIE!!! Isn’t she pretty? Oh and btw that picture that she is drawing is of Simon and I on our wedding day.

Ok hearts to you all!!

Lets talk about STRESS baby, lets talk about you and me..

Ah, the week before the wedding. You think that after planning for 2 years there would be no stress but then you get down to the week before the wedding and you realize that you couldn’t have been more wrong if your life depended on it. I have had three mental breakdowns this week, and they weren’t even rational! It was like I was PMSing but I couldn’t even blame my hormones because I’m not! I feel terrible for Simon but he’s been there the whole time. Every day reminds me of the many reasons why I am going through all this. He is the sweetest most awesomest guy!

Yesterday, I was chillin at work just getting my work groove on when this giant green box arrives for me with the fedex guy. Everyone is really excited as I slowly tear open the little zip pully thing and pull out.. THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOQUET OF FLOWERS EVER!! And a card that says “Don’t marry him I’m the guy for you love, your secret admirerer” hahaha ok just kidding, it said “I can’t wait to marry you next week! With love from your best friend, Simon XXX” Isn’t that the sweetest?! The flowers are pictured above. :)

All that said, I am really enjoying planning for my wedding and getting everything together and I think that I may like to look into doing this for a living. I think planning other people’s weddings may be even more fun because I may not be as stressed. Plus I’m really creative so I could make all kinds of super amazing weddings for people on a budget. I mean, I’ve been watching TONS of wedding shows on tv and people usually spend tens of thousands of dollars on weddings that are only half as amazing as mine is going to be! You’ll see! So, anyone getting married soon???

I can’t wait to see you all there! A lot of people are getting in this weekend and next week is going to be super crazy! WHEW!

As Scott says, T-minus 1 week and counting!!!!!!!

Wedding Week About to Start

“Are you stressed yet? Are you sure? Aure you sure? Aure you sure? Aure you sure? Are you sure?”

10 points if you can tell me where that quote is from.

My mum, dad and grandparents are currently flying over the Atlantic ocean on their way to Colorado (cue “their arms must be tired” jokes, etc). It’ll be the first time my grandparents have ever been to Colorado and I’m really looking forward to see them all. This will be the start of “Wedding week”, which runs right up to next Wednesday, the date of our marriage. After that we have a very brief relaxation period, and then we’ll be whisked off to our honeymoon cruise for two fantastic weeks of relaxation, rest, and no worries. Ah, won’t it be bliss?

Coming up after our last week at work we have the bachelor and bachelorette (stag and hen) parties, Amber’s bridal shower, and my sister arriving with her boyfriend on Sunday. It’ll be fun!
