Wedding Photos

July 1st, 2007

We finally rounded up all of our wedding photos, and they all came out beautifully. You can see the pics here. There are lots more photos to come – these are the pre-wedding shots and the professional shots. In total, we have received 1826 photos that were taken by the photographer and our friends and family.

We’ll also put honeymoon pics up soon! Next on the list is making the DVD of the ceremony.

Music Man!

January 3rd, 2007
A quartet!

So our wedding ceremony is outdoors which means NO ELECTRICITY! It’s a problem we’ve been trying to work around since we want to have some kind of music for the whole walking down the aisle thing.. Scotty Ko, my “Ko”-maid of honor has been working diligently to solve that little problem by finding us a kickass quartet! It should be awesome. They have some strange requests though, they want armless chairs.. ok not so strange, and a tent like pavilion over their heads. I suggested putting them in my camping tent and zipping it up so that it was like a giant boombox, but Scott didn’t think that was very funny. What are they afraid of? The sky falling on their precious musical heads? We should be able to accommodate all their requests though. We have a few leads on pop up tents but if anyone has a small one and is willing to lend it to us let me know!!

In other news, Missy got her dress fitted. After losing a million pounds from Navy boot camp I think they had to take the dress down like 10 sizes but seeing it all pulled tight in the right places really made me want to cry, in a happy way! The big day is getting close!! She looked SO BEAUTIFUL in the dress. Simon wasn’t so sure about the ones that I picked out but haha SUCKA they look GREAT!!

That reminds me, boys who are in the wedding, don’t forget to get fitted for your tuxes by April or you too will be wearing dresses…

That ALSO reminds me that I need to order the top hats… that’s right people.. I said top hats. This wedding is going to TOTALLY RULE! I hope you’re excited because I SURE AM.

In cake world, well there is no cake world… Anna suggested her friend Sara to make the cake for us but she hasn’t even gotten back to me. I’m not really surprised to tell you the truth. I think we’re going to go with King Soopers. Classy I know, but have you SEEN the cakes they make there? They are beautiful. I didn’t really want a cake for our wedding because I personally don’t like cake. I don’t like ANY kind of cake so don’t start naming them off like people seem inclined to do “but what about raspberry? What about cheesecake?” NO NO NO but we’re going to talk to them to see what they can do. Maybe we can get a dirt cake.. I DO like dirt cake but if you think about it you’ll realize that it’s not cake at all, just a bunch of crushed up oreos in a bucket. YUM. Does anyone know any bakers they would like to suggest? Someone reliable perhaps? I’d love to hear from you!

Wow this is so exciting! OH for all you British people out there who may be reading this, we are really sad that you won’t be able to come to see our wedding but never fear, we are going to have a reception out there. My new “Mum” haha i love that word.. and sister in law will be helping to plan that.

Speaking of people who can’t make it. If you can’t make it to the wedding don’t worry. We will be making a dvd of the ceremony and reception so everyone who wants to see the ceremony but may not be able to come, will be able to see it!

In non wedding related news, 24 is like the most gripping show e-v-e-r! Have you seen it? We just started watching the first season on dvd. Don’t tell us what happens! We’re at 7pm or maybe it was 6pm.. whew!
Ok Hasta La Pasta my friends!

Wedding Ring

November 26th, 2006

Last weekend we got my wedding ring – a titanium ring that we are having inscribed “best friends forever”, because that is what our relationship is based upon. This isn’t the exact ring, but this is something similar:

Titanium wedding ring

My other choice was a tungsten carbide ring. Titanium is strong (resists bending), but tungsten carbide is hard (resists scratching). Although it would maintain its appearance forever without looking worn, it could break like glass if dropped. So, I decided to stick with a titanium ring.

Ceremony Site In the Bag!

August 21st, 2006

Hi!

Well we had thought that we found the wedding site of our dreams when we saw the little chapel at Peaceful Valley Ranch! It was amazing, panoramic views of mountain peaks covered in mist from the early morning evaporation. Beautiful stained glass windows with pictures of ski patrol people (it was originally a ski patrol chapel where people from all faiths could come to worship their gods)! It was amazing! I’m telling you all this to take your breath away and make you feel the sense of awe we felt when we entered this chapel.

Now I want you to feel the crushing spirit of defeat as you realize that just because we aren’t the right religion, we can’t celebrate our love in this place. That’s right, we are being descriminated against because we are not Christians. Apparently, if you don’t believe in their god, it doesn’t matter how much you love someone and want to promise your heart to them forever, you can’t be married in a Christian church. I think it is ridiculous and stupid and it just renews my conviction that overly religious people tend to be the most closed minded. Please feel free to dispute this point. I know some of you are religious so if you’d like to explain it to me then feel free.

Some of you may be saying that I could convert to the religion to be married there, and actually I wouldn’t have to because I was baptized a Christian, but I think that is just lame. I don’t believe in god, I don’t believe in the teachings of the religion, and I don’t believe in the way some Christians act. I think it’s just a cop out to convert to a religion just to be married somewhere and I think it’s ridiculous that they would force people to do that.

Well anyway screw them!! They’re not getting our hard earned $750. We found a better (and cheaper!!) place just down the road. It is at the Wild Basin Lodge in a beautiful meadow and I’m not going to say any more about it because I want you to be surprised when you see it. It is amazing though and you’ll love it. So totally look forward to it!!

More wedding updates to come later
